The Endocannabinoid System & CBD
The Endocannabinoid System is the interlinked network of nerve cells and receptors in your body that cannabinoids like CBD can interact with directly to produce desired health effects.
Think of it as a system of "keys and locks". The predominant parts of the human endocannabinoid system come in two flavors, CB1 and CB2 receptors.
These cells found throughout your body (mainly in the brain and central nervous system) are the locks; they can only be activated or "unlocked" by a matching key.
Endocannabinoids, both those produced by the body naturally and those found in the hemp plant, act as the keys; their specific biological shape allows them to fit perfectly into each of these receptors, unlocking a whole host of health effects and benefits.
Whether the cannabinoid is one produced by the body (e.g. anandamide) or one produced by the natural hemp plant (e.g. CBD), the positive effects start once the key unlocks the lock.
When a molecule like THC unlocks CB1 receptors, it typically produces a feeling of happiness, relaxation, or a "high".
When CBD unlocks both CB1 and CB2, it triggers a homeostasis effect on the body, working with our body's own system to relieve minor pain, improve mood and helping to "de-stress", and also promoting healthier sleep and recovery.
Whole-plant cannabinoids are better at triggering these effects, because the natural "shape of the key" tends to fit better into our body's own locks than a lab-modified or synthetic cannabinoid does.
This is why only full-spectrum cannabidiol oil is used in CBDPure. We believe that for the human body to best utilize CBD and other helpful cannabinoids, it is critical to use CBD oil that is as close to its natural state as possible.
